6th July – Conversations in Breath

In another landmark in the progress of the Twin Dome, this week marks the opening of “Conversations in Breath” by Dundee based artist Wendy Bell – our first guest artist at the Twin Dome. Wendy’s exhibition, a unique blending of Physics and Art, considers breath as patterned sound and presents an unforgettable exhibition experience.
Situated centrally in the space and suspended from beams which traverse the interior of the dome, is a sculpted form in pure silk. This form responds – either minutely or very substantially – to an individual’s breath caught in passing or an unexpected gust of air which will occasionally find its way into and around the space. For myself I sense a living presence with uneven breathing.
Wendy’s exhibition will continue for every Saturday and Sunday of July from 12 noon to 4pm.
Meanwhile, outside and waiting very patiently for their moment, are the new beds of wildflowers. I’ve inspected them regularly from seeds in the dirt to the vigorous thicket of plants that they are now but they’re all still holding back from flowering. I’m putting this down to the unusually cold July but, with a bit of luck and having held back for so long, they should all still be looking amazing and colourful by the time of our next exhibition in September, “Beyond the Horizon”.
