6th March 2025 – Trio Ramberget and Matti Bye
Just over a week to Open Night and I’m feeling reasonably confident that my planning for the Twin Dome is coming together pretty much as hoped. What was an earlier installation (2024) called Beyond the Horizon has now become Beyond the Horizon and Fading Away in Blue.
The Fading Away part is the addition of a new soundtrack – the music of Swedish group Trio Ramberget. I first heard their music on a favourite late-night Radio 3 show and right away I wanted to find a way to use this amazing, floaty piece of music. It sounded so filmic, instantly transporting me somewhere way beyond the comfy, old sofa of my living room. Elsewhere in the cosmos is probably about right.
The following day I found myself talking to the band and right away they were thrilled with my proposal, an eight minute improvisational piece from their latest album bouncing around the walls of an old observatory in Scotland as we looked out at the stars.
