22nd May 2026 – Sunny art installation
Around about this time last year we were suddenly asked to vacate the Twin Dome – another story for another day – and something was under construction which then unexpectedly needed to be left in cold storage and basically parked as unfinished, unresolved.
My plan is to now get back to this construction (I have all the components) and find a way to share it with the wider world. We will have open night in March of 2027 but, as it’s very much to be powered and inspired by the sun, it really needs to be experienced in daylight conditions. Then, as has often been the case with previous installations, I’ll try to find a way to bring it back into a different kind of being when we’re back in the dark evenings. But right now, as spring is just starting to turn to summer, I’m not really inclined to think about late winter.
Back to last year the piece was titled “Being sunny”. Its general disposition has been a lot less sunny parked in cold storage all this time but now is a perfect time to re-evaluate it and to see if the ideas that made sense back then still hold good now. I’m hoping so.
